How statements in the US are laid out
US statements usually open with an account summary (beginning balance, deposits, withdrawals, fees, ending balance) followed by transaction sections and a daily balance table.
Amounts and dates
Amounts use a period for decimals and commas for thousands (1,234.56). Withdrawals are often shown with a minus sign or in a separate column.
The usual date format is MM/DD/YYYY. When a statement is ambiguous we use the statement period and other rows to decide the order.
Account identifiers
Only the last four digits of the account number are printed on most pages; the full routing number appears on checks, not in transaction rows.
Accounting software
The most common destinations in the US are QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Quicken, Xero, Excel. Every export format is included on every plan.
Why statements still matter
Banks must provide periodic statements under Regulation E for electronic transfers, and most keep 7 years of PDF statements available online.
Frequently asked questions
Does the converter support USD statements?
Yes. Amounts in US dollars are read with the local number format and the currency is carried into Excel, OFX and QBO exports.
What if my bank in the US isn't listed?
Upload it anyway — there are no bank templates. The reconciliation check confirms whether every transaction was captured.
Which date format will my export use?
Excel and OFX use real dates. For CSV and QIF you can choose MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY at export time; MM/DD/YYYY is typical in the US.
