Every statement reconciled before you export

Every statement is checked: opening balance + transactions = closing balance, plus running balances and printed totals. Know it's complete before export.

Quick answer

After extraction we recompute the closing balance from the opening balance and every transaction, verify each printed running balance, and compare printed total credits and debits. A statement is marked Reconciled only when everything ties out to the cent.

Four checks on every statement

  • Opening balance + credits − debits = closing balance (or the reverse for credit cards and loans).
  • Each printed running balance follows from the previous one.
  • Printed totals for credits and debits match the extracted rows.
  • Dates fall inside the statement period, and identical rows are flagged as possible duplicates.

Pinpointed, not just pass/fail

When a statement doesn't reconcile we tell you where: the row whose running balance breaks, the amount that would explain the difference, or a row whose sign looks reversed. Fixing a conversion usually means editing one cell, and the check re-runs instantly.

Why it matters

A missing row or a transposed digit is invisible in a 400-line spreadsheet, but it breaks your bank reconciliation weeks later. Balance checks turn "I think it's right" into proof.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the statement doesn't reconcile?

The job is still saved, but it's marked Mismatch with the difference and the rows most likely responsible. You can edit rows in the review table and the check re-runs.

What if the statement has no opening or closing balance?

Some statements (especially partial exports) omit balances. We then mark the result Unverifiable and still run the running-balance, duplicate and date checks.
