Quick answer
QuickBooks Desktop does not import CSV bank files, so convert the PDF to QBO and use File › Utilities › Import › Web Connect Files. Link the import to an existing account the first time and later imports go straight in.
Step by step
- Convert and export the statement as QBO.
- In QuickBooks Desktop choose File › Utilities › Import › Web Connect Files.
- Select the .qbo file.
- Choose 'Use an existing QuickBooks account' and pick the bank account.
- Review the downloaded transactions in the Bank Feeds center.
When bank feeds stop working
Older Desktop versions lose online banking support when Intuit retires them. Converting PDF statements to QBO lets you keep importing transactions without upgrading.
