Convert Capital One bank statements to Excel, CSV & QBO
Convert Capital One bank statements (PDF or scanned) to Excel, CSV, QBO or OFX, reconciled against the closing balance. Free for 20 pages a month.
Quick answer
Download your Capital One bank statement as a PDF from capitalone.com and the Capital One app, upload it to StatementPilot, and export Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX or QIF. We check that the "Opening Balance" plus every transaction equals the "Closing Balance" so you know nothing was missed.
What a Capital One bank statement looks like
Capital One 360 checking statements are compact single-table PDFs, while credit card statements show Previous Balance, Payments, Credits, Transactions and Fees with per-cardholder subtotals.
US statements usually open with an account summary (beginning balance, deposits, withdrawals, fees, ending balance) followed by transaction sections and a daily balance table.
How to convert a Capital One statement
- Sign in to capitalone.com and the Capital One app and download the statement for the period you need as a PDF (not a screenshot).
- If the PDF is password-protected, open it and save an unprotected copy first.
- Upload one or several months to StatementPilot. Scanned or photographed statements are read with OCR.
- Check the reconciliation panel: the "Opening Balance" plus deposits minus withdrawals should equal the "Closing Balance".
- Export to Excel or CSV for analysis, or QBO/OFX/QIF to import into QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Quicken.
Dates, amounts and account numbers in the US
Amounts use a period for decimals and commas for thousands (1,234.56). Withdrawals are often shown with a minus sign or in a separate column. We read the date order from the statement itself and default to MM/DD/YYYY for United States, so 03/04 is never silently swapped.
Only the last four digits of the account number are printed on most pages; the full routing number appears on checks, not in transaction rows. Only the masked or last digits are carried into QBO/OFX files, as those importers expect.
Importing Capital One transactions into your accounting software
Accountants in the US most often import into QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Quicken and Xero. Choose QBO for QuickBooks, the Xero CSV for Xero, OFX for most other packages, or Excel/CSV for anything else.
When your bank feed only goes back a few months, converted Capital One statements fill the gap for older periods without manual typing.
Why statements are still needed
Banks must provide periodic statements under Regulation E for electronic transfers, and most keep 7 years of PDF statements available online.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a Capital One bank statement to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF and download an .xlsx file with date, description, amount and balance columns plus a summary sheet showing the opening balance, closing balance and reconciliation result.
How do I get my Capital One statement as a PDF?
Statements are available in capitalone.com and the Capital One app. Choose the statement period and download or save it as a PDF; a printed copy can also be scanned or photographed and uploaded.
Can I import Capital One transactions into QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Export the converted statement in the format QuickBooks Online accepts (QBO, OFX or a formatted CSV) and import it as a bank statement file. Dates are written in the format your software expects.
Do I need a Capital One template?
No. StatementPilot doesn't rely on bank-specific templates, so redesigned Capital One statements and older layouts both work. The reconciliation check confirms nothing was missed.
