Convert Charles Schwab brokerage statements to Excel, CSV & QBO
Convert Charles Schwab brokerage statements (PDF or scanned) to Excel, CSV, QBO or OFX, reconciled against the ending value. Free for 20 pages a month.
Quick answer
Download your Charles Schwab brokerage statement as a PDF from schwab.com under Statements, upload it to StatementPilot, and export Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX or QIF. We check that the "Starting Value" plus every transaction equals the "Ending Value" so you know nothing was missed.
What a Charles Schwab brokerage statement looks like
Schwab brokerage statements include Transaction Details with Settle Date, Category (Buy, Sell, Dividend, Interest) and amount, plus a Bank Sweep section.
US statements usually open with an account summary (beginning balance, deposits, withdrawals, fees, ending balance) followed by transaction sections and a daily balance table.
How to convert a Charles Schwab statement
- Sign in to schwab.com under Statements and download the statement for the period you need as a PDF (not a screenshot).
- If the PDF is password-protected, open it and save an unprotected copy first.
- Upload one or several months to StatementPilot. Scanned or photographed statements are read with OCR.
- Check the reconciliation panel: the "Starting Value" plus deposits minus withdrawals should equal the "Ending Value".
- Export to Excel or CSV for analysis, or QBO/OFX/QIF to import into QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Quicken.
Dates, amounts and account numbers in the US
Amounts use a period for decimals and commas for thousands (1,234.56). Withdrawals are often shown with a minus sign or in a separate column. We read the date order from the statement itself and default to MM/DD/YYYY for United States, so 03/04 is never silently swapped.
Only the last four digits of the account number are printed on most pages; the full routing number appears on checks, not in transaction rows. Only the masked or last digits are carried into QBO/OFX files, as those importers expect.
What gets extracted from a Charles Schwab statement
For brokerage statements we extract the cash activity — deposits, withdrawals, dividends, interest, fees and trade settlements — as dated transactions with a running cash balance. Position and holdings tables are not exported as transactions.
Why statements are still needed
Banks must provide periodic statements under Regulation E for electronic transfers, and most keep 7 years of PDF statements available online.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a Charles Schwab brokerage statement to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF and download an .xlsx file with date, description, amount and balance columns plus a summary sheet showing the starting value, ending value and reconciliation result.
How do I get my Charles Schwab statement as a PDF?
Statements are available in schwab.com under Statements. Choose the statement period and download or save it as a PDF; a printed copy can also be scanned or photographed and uploaded.
Can I import Charles Schwab transactions into QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Export the converted statement in the format QuickBooks Online accepts (QBO, OFX or a formatted CSV) and import it as a bank statement file. Dates are written in the format your software expects.
Do I need a Charles Schwab template?
No. StatementPilot doesn't rely on bank-specific templates, so redesigned Charles Schwab statements and older layouts both work. The reconciliation check confirms nothing was missed.
