Quick answer
Google Sheets can't parse PDF statements. Convert the statement to XLSX or CSV here, then in Google Sheets choose File › Import › Upload. Dates and amounts arrive as real values, ready for formulas and pivot tables.
How to do it
- 1
Upload your bank statement.
- 2
Download the XLSX (keeps formatting) or CSV.
- 3
In Google Sheets use File › Import › Upload.
- 4
Choose 'Insert new sheet' or 'Replace spreadsheet'.
Locale tip
Google Sheets interprets CSV dates using the spreadsheet's locale (File › Settings). Use ISO dates (YYYY-MM-DD) to avoid any day/month confusion — that's our default.
Ideas once your data is in Sheets
- Build a monthly spend pivot by payee
