Convert ANZ bank statements to Excel, CSV & QBO
Convert ANZ bank statements (PDF or scanned) to Excel, CSV, QBO or OFX, reconciled against the closing balance. Free for 20 pages a month.
Quick answer
Download your ANZ bank statement as a PDF from ANZ Internet Banking under Statements, upload it to StatementPilot, and export Excel, CSV, QBO, OFX or QIF. We check that the "OPENING BALANCE" plus every transaction equals the "CLOSING BALANCE" so you know nothing was missed.
What a ANZ bank statement looks like
ANZ statements list Date, Transaction Details, Withdrawals ($), Deposits ($) and Balance ($), with a 'TOTALS AT END OF PAGE' line on every page.
Australian statements list Debit, Credit and Balance columns with an 'Opening Balance' row and a 'Closing Balance' summary; dates usually read '05 Jan'.
How to convert a ANZ statement
- Sign in to ANZ Internet Banking under Statements and download the statement for the period you need as a PDF (not a screenshot).
- If the PDF is password-protected, open it and save an unprotected copy first.
- Upload one or several months to StatementPilot. Scanned or photographed statements are read with OCR.
- Check the reconciliation panel: the "OPENING BALANCE" plus deposits minus withdrawals should equal the "CLOSING BALANCE".
- Export to Excel or CSV for analysis, or QBO/OFX/QIF to import into Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks Online.
Dates, amounts and account numbers in Australia
Amounts use 1,234.56. Balances are frequently suffixed with 'CR' or 'DR' instead of a sign. We read the date order from the statement itself and default to DD/MM/YYYY for Australia, so 03/04 is never silently swapped.
Accounts are identified by a six-digit BSB plus an account number. Only the masked or last digits are carried into QBO/OFX files, as those importers expect.
Importing ANZ transactions into your accounting software
Accountants in Australia most often import into Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks Online and Excel. Choose QBO for QuickBooks, the Xero CSV for Xero, OFX for most other packages, or Excel/CSV for anything else.
When your bank feed only goes back a few months, converted ANZ statements fill the gap for older periods without manual typing.
Why statements are still needed
Under the Consumer Data Right banks share data electronically, yet accountants and lenders still rely on PDF statements for older periods.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a ANZ bank statement to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF and download an .xlsx file with date, description, amount and balance columns plus a summary sheet showing the opening balance, closing balance and reconciliation result.
How do I get my ANZ statement as a PDF?
Statements are available in ANZ Internet Banking under Statements. Choose the statement period and download or save it as a PDF; a printed copy can also be scanned or photographed and uploaded.
Can I import ANZ transactions into Xero?
Yes. Export the converted statement in the format Xero accepts (QBO, OFX or a formatted CSV) and import it as a bank statement file. Dates are written in the format your software expects.
Do I need a ANZ template?
No. StatementPilot doesn't rely on bank-specific templates, so redesigned ANZ statements and older layouts both work. The reconciliation check confirms nothing was missed.
